Hi! Thanks so much for visiting Live, Love, Lake! I have now moved to http://www.livelovelake.com and I hope you will stop by soon!
Last night, I was probably one of a million viewers who couldn’t believe that Matthew Crawley was killed. For about 10 minutes after the show ended, I kept trying to figure out if there was any way it could not be true.. but the way he looked with vacant eyes open makes it very obvious that he is dead..
Another tragedy has happened this season for this family. First Sybil died after giving birth, and then Matthew dying tragically in a car accident. Didn’t you just know it was going to happen, when you saw the scenes flashing back and forth between the family all sitting around at home talking about him coming, and him happily driving along in his convertible? As I understand it from reading online, it sounds as if Dan Stevens, who plays Matthew Crawley, wanted to leave the show to pursue other things, but it still is sad.
It seems so awful that the writers showed Mary and Matthew so much in love this season, only to kill him off! It makes Downton Abbey seem more like a soap opera to me. And I am not a fan of soap operas! So I guess it opens the story up to lots of other plot lines for Mary next season. I just don’t look forward to the first episode where they will probably show her grief when she finds out that Matthew is dead.
So today, Amy and I decided to spend the day together, and clean our closets. This is no small feat as we both love to shop, and also we have trouble getting rid of clothes and shoes! But today we made a pact to be brutal with each other, and really clean our closets out!
First, we started with mine, and its a good thing, because I think if we would have done hers first, I would have been so tired, that I would have wanted to stop. But as it was, we went through shoes, sweaters, purses, and I removed everything from my closet, and only put back the clothes we both agreed that I keep. (Honestly, I did have the “fight” for a few items!)
Then it was on to Amy’s closet and dresser. We “weeded out” a lot of high school, and college spring break clothes. Amy really wants to dress as the young woman she has become. After we finished, she told me that she was really surprised that she got rid of so much!
The result? 11 trash bags of clothes, shoes, and purses to go to Goodwill this week! And I am TIRED!
It is so great to have a daughter who will spend time with me, and who actually wants to do this. Thank you so much Amy! I had a great day!
Back to work tomorrow! I hope you all had a wonderful day today!
Last Sunday night, Amy and I watched the Grammy’s instead of Downton Abbey. Although I didn’t know all of the artists, I still enjoyed seeing my favorites. And some of the dresses were gorgeous! So this week was all about catching up with that!
In the mean time, I was so excited to see how the Truckee Shawlette would turn out with my color choices, that I worked on that most evenings after work. At first I was a little concerned about the amount of lavender that was in the Deja Vu color. But actually, it has blended very well with the maroon in the contrasting yarn. The shawlette is growing slowly but surely! It is about 15 long and 4 inches wide. I have a long way to go!
Last night I figured I better get started with the Downton Abbey project before Sunday when the new assignment was given. So I brought out my iPad. There is a PBS app on it that allows you to view all of the current season episodes of Downton Abbey (It is also available at this website). So I started watching and picked up my Downton Abbey project. This week our knitting assignment was to work on the left hand gauntlet to do the majority of the arm to the thumb. Whew! After knitting for a couple of hours last night and about 3 hours today, I am finally finished for the week!
I also watched the two hours of Downton Abbey.. I will sure miss when this season is over. My mom said she thinks this is the last week. Is it? I still haven’t seen Season 2 so when this season is over, I will probably go back and watch all of season 2 and season 3. Now that I see how great Mary and Matthew are together, I want to see their wedding!
So now its back to the shawlette to see how much farther I can get before Downton Abbey tomorrow! Wish me luck! I have collected quite a bit of yarn in my stash for the next project. Now I just need to decide what that will be!
Hope you are having a wonderful weekend!
