I Bet You’ve Wondered What Happened to Me!

Hey there blog friends!  I am sure you thought I had dropped off the face of the earth! For that I am sorry, and I am hoping to do better!

Wow!   It’s been something like 10 months since I posted.  Hmmmmm… Those months were filled with wedding planning… work… dress shopping… knitting animals… dress fittings… trips to the lake… more wedding planning…  bridal showers…  Can you get the theme of the last 10 months?

Yep!  We had a wedding in the family!  My daughter Amy, married a wonderful guy this summer and we had the best time planning it and the day was just so special and memorable!  (Even though many moments were kind of a blur in my mind!)

Trips to the lake this summer were great too!  We took a week of vacation and spent it there and the weather was PERFECT!  We had plenty of time for morning fishing trips, afternoon boating and swimming, and relaxing evenings.

Bear had a great time too!

This past weekend was our weekend to put away most of our summer toys.  Always a sad time.  But we are planning a trip to New Hampshire in a couple of weeks so we have lots of things to look forward to, also!

In the mean time, I am back to knitting my animals and other items, and I am planning to get out the sewing machine again too.  I need to get some things in my Etsy shop for Christmas!

Hope you are all having a wonderful week and Happy Fall!

Winter Has Marched On…

Well, it’s been awhile since I last posted, and yes, winter is still dumping piles of snow on us.  And we have been hitting record low temperatures…  I spend most evenings after work, snuggled up in my flannel jammies and knitting in front of the fireplace!

Of course Bear is not far away… He always enjoys a good snuggle!

As much as I am a “summer person”, the quiet winter is still very nice. 🙂

But Saturday we, again, got a full day of snow!

Snow in February Snow in February2

Enough is enough!  I went through the house yesterday and removed all traces of anything “winter”!  I am ready for Spring!  So these things went back to the cupboard, not to be seen again until next winter!

Let it snow

It may seem little superstitious but even so, there is no sense is begging for it! Ha! Ha!

And I love these little Snow Babies.. but ENOUGH is ENOUGH 🙂

And as the winter has marched on, I have continued with my Downton Abbey Mystery Knit along.  I did fall behind a bit.  I knit the Week 5 clue and after finishing, realized I had misinterpreted the pattern so the lace pattern had been knitted wrong (yes I do that too!)  and while pretty, didn’t really show any kind of pattern at all.  So I spent a week trying to decide whether to “bite the bullet” and take out the Week 5 of knitting.

I finally did take it out which put me a couple of weeks behind.  I have now finished the Week 5 and most of the Week 6 clues.  I am so much happier with the lace pattern.  And after I finish the Week 6 clue, I have only Week 7 to complete and it will be done!  I really do love the pattern and colors!

I am so excited to finish it and start another of my little characters!  I have missed my animal knitting!

Winter is marching on!  And it will be March in a Week! 🙂  I can hardly wait!

A Sunday Perfect for Nesting!

Sunday morning I woke up to frost on the ground, and 27 degree weather.  A really clear, beautiful, but cold day.  For me, those days (if I’m not going to work!) are days for baking, knitting, reading, and doing jigsaw puzzles.

On days like this I gather all of my crafts, and books around me in what could best be described as a “nest”.  I have knitting beside me, my kindle nearby for reading, and my iPad for looking up recipes.   Then, by the fireplace, I have a table that I have lovingly named the “puzzle table”.  (Yes I actually bought a table just for puzzles!)

Puzzles

I love doing puzzles!  I remember doing puzzles as a child, those heavyweight cardboard ones that fit into a sort of frame.  I would do them over and over.  Then as I got older we did larger puzzles on a card table in our living room.  I spent hours sitting there piecing them together.  We didn’t glue them or frame them when we were done, we just took them apart, and put them away for a year or two and then did them again.  After a couple of years they were like new puzzles anyway!

Besides the puzzle, today I worked on my latest scarf a bit. I just started it Saturday and it is coming along nicely!  A simple pattern that caught my eye a few months ago, that has been sitting in my basket waiting to be knit up.

And picked out the yarn for my next animal…  What do you think?  I am thinking a Christmas themed pair of mice. 🙂

And then I was in the mood to bake some pumpkin bread.

 Ultimate Pumpkin Bread

On Pinterest I found this recipe for “Ultimate Pumpkin Bread” that looked really good.  It was described to be better than Starbuck’s Pumpkin Bread.  Well, I have never had Starbuck’s Pumpkin Bread (we don’t have a Starbuck’s in our town), but I am thinking it must be good.  So I thought I’d give it a try.  It sure didn’t disappoint!  I made it in small loaf pans so I could freeze several for later, but I did try one.  Yuuummmmm!  Here is the recipe if you’d like to try it.

Do any of you have nesting days?  What do you like to do?
